When is a warranty a...

At this stage it sounds like the tech's from Electronflow will be making another trip out to try and resolve the 0088 code. The only suggestion is that it might be the power supply.

I spoke with Epson in Melbourne and among other things clarified warranty/travel etc. Travel of up to 80km from the service base is covered under the warranty, the user pays an agreed fee with the service company for any travel beyond 80km. Funny in a way as no-one even called to say the tech's were coming and I only received an estimate on travel cost from the supplier, not the service company.

So I guess the problem is at the point where the humor is wearing off and I'd just like it fixed. Not too much to ask for this kind of gear that's only a couple of months old.

Pete,

I think Epson owes you a new printer.

Why didn't the tech check your power supply before replacing the mainboard?

I think Epson should replace that 4800 of yours.

Let them swap your printer and insist on a full set of new cartriges.

I guess I'll see soon enough - at this point in time I can't see a printer swap being on the cards even though I wouldn't mind that as a solution, but you never know what will happen next.

Hey Pete,

Really sorry to hear about your 4800 problems.

I assume you're familiar with the 4800's "Whole Unit Exchange Program"-- isn't this an option for you? I didn't study all the program details listed in the warranty booklet, but assuming the shipment costs wouldn't be exorbitant for you, maybe it would be worth investigating?

In any case, I hope everyone there does the right things for you.
