Roll paper skidders

I've never enjoyed using roll paper, the thicker the stock the less I enjoy it. Yes there are anti curl gadgets but give me cut sheet anyday. The cost savings (for me) using roll are negligible. Add in the hassle factor of the curl memory and it's something I can live with out.

I've discovered a new reason to dislike rolls these last couple of days. I've been printing runs of greeting cards on 17" 308 Photo Rag, each run is 1-2m long. About 2 1/2 inches into the start of each run the printer leaves skid marks the left side of paper, where the paper curl is pretty much at it's max before the innards of the printer bring it into line and as you'd guess the further you get through the roll the worse the marking is... very reliable though! Here's some examples:

So I ended up pushing the images back on the file when printing to roll, leaving the first couple of inches blank - which is even more paper wasted. Maybe this is just my printer, or just the 4800... I'm looking forward to getting back to cut sheet :)
